Unsettled Weather Pattern Cancels Nippy 50 Weekend at Maquoketa Speedway
FAIRBURY, IL (April 1, 2026) – With continuous rounds of showers and storms, including severe weather, forecasted for the next three days, the Nippy 50 weekend scheduled for April 2-4 at Maquoketa Speedway for the MARS Late Model Championship Powered by FK Rod Ends has been canceled. Rain chances near 90-100% for numerous periods throughout the weekend, rainfall amounts expected to exceed 2”, and a large number of race teams and fans traveling numerous hours to be with us for opening weekend were all taken into consideration by the event promotional team and the series.
With a jam-packed racing season scheduled for the MARS Championship Tours, and numerous Super Late Model specials on the calendar in the region for the remainder of the year, the Nippy 50 will not be rescheduled. We look forward to returning to the Maquoketa Speedway in 2027.
The MARS Late Model Championship Powered by FK Rod Ends 2026 campaign is now set to begin with a three-night swing in the state of Iowa beginning with the Hawkeye Land 40 at Cedar County Raceway, in Tipton, Iowa, on Thursday, April 16. On Friday and Saturday, April 17 & 18, the tour will head to West Burlington, Iowa to the famed 34 Raceway for Slocum 50 weekend.
