LATE NIGHT HUSTLE: Feger Cruises to Win at Spoon River

September 4, 2022 (Lewistown, IL) Round 13 of the Mars Racing Series took place at Spoon River Speedway on Sunday night as part of the Plowboy Nationals. The pits filled up with 21 cars on the beautiful summer evening. The $5,000 to win event got started a little later than expected after a rain shower pushed things back a couple of hours.

In Allstar Performance qualifying it was Logan Moody who put down the quickest lap at 13.430 seconds. This set the stage for two heat races to set the field for the 40 lap event.

In Arizona Sport Shirts Heat Race #1  Logan Moody took the win to start on the pole for the nights main event. Mars points leader Ryan Unzicker finished runner up and Bob Gardner third.

Heat Race #2 presented by Dirt Track Bank went to Bloomington, IL driver Jason Feger. Taylor Scheffler and Jeffery Ledford finished in the second and third positions.

In the 40 lap $10,000 to win event Jason Feger took the lead on the opening lap and never looked back. In the opening stage their was a great battle between Ryan Unzicker and Logan Moody. The event was slowed on a couple of occasions as Rich Bell and Mike Spatola both jumped the cushion in turns one and two and came to stops. Jason Feger was class of the field and held Ryan Unzicker at bay for the win. Taylor Scheffler rounded out the podium.  Matt Santel was the Keyser Manufacturing Hard Charger of the night after improving 6 positions for a top ten finish.

The Mars Racing Series will take a couple weeks off before returning to Spoon River Speedway for $3,000 to win make up on September 17th. Then the season will wrap up on October 7 and 8 at Fairbury Speedway for the FALS Frenzy. Every lap of action can be seen LIVE on FloRacing.
