MARS Championship Tours Wrap up 2025 with FALS Frenzy Presented by Sunoco Race Fuels at Fairbury Speedway
FAIRBURY, IL (September 30, 2025) – After a full season of racing action at the best venues in the Midwest, it all comes down to one final weekend. The MARS Late Model Championship Powered by FK Rod Ends and MARS Modified Championship Powered by Summit Racing Equipment will both crown their champions this weekend at the Fairbury Speedway, in Fairbury, Illinois, with the FALS Frenzy Presented by Sunoco Race Fuels. In total, 4 champions will be crowned on Saturday night, with only the MARS Late Model point champion already decided heading into the weekend.
For the third consecutive season, Jason Feger has captured the MARS Late Model Championship Powered by FK Rod Ends championship over the toughest lineup top-to-bottom that the MARS tour has had nightly since taken over by MC Promotions prior to the 2023 season. This season boasts a record point fund that will award Feger a $25,000 check for his efforts, later this fall. Ryan Unzicker looks as if he will once again finish the season in the runner-up position, barring giving up a 112-point advantage over third in his final two nights. The back-and-forth battle between Shannon Babb and Tony Jackson Jr. for third position looks as if it will come down to the final night as Babb currently has a 9-point advantage over Jackson Jr.
The most competitive point battle of the season looks as if it will come down to the final night of racing, and that is for the 2025 Sunoco Race Fuels Rookie of the Year title. Jake Little, Daryn Klein, and Jeff Herzog head into Friday’s event only separated by 17 points. Brennon Willard has locked up fourth place in the rookie battle.
2025 will be the season that the MARS Modified Championship Powered by Summit Racing Equipment will crown its second champion all-time of the third-year tour. After Michael Long captured the title the first two seasons, in dominating fashion, issues plagued the 18L team throughout the spring and summer which led to him dropping off the series in its entirety and just choosing to hit and miss this year. Although he has only found victory lane twice, Cole Falloway has had one of the most consistent seasons you could ask for and takes a 40-point lead into Championship Weekend. Michael Ledford only trails by 40 points and is looking to close the gap at his home track to steal away the title. Trevor Neville currently rides in third position with a mathematical chance of moving up to first or down the charts as low as sixth.
Beau DeYoung has not sealed the deal for the MARS Modified Sunoco Race Fuels Rookie of the Year chase, but with another solid night, will have the title secured at the end of Friday’s event. Fairbury Speedway regular Alan Stipp trails by 103 points. Ryan Hamilton is only 9 points behind Stipp, but after totaling his ride last weekend at Tri-City, he is unfortunately not expected to finish out the tour. Damian Kiefer and Mark Rhoades round out the Rookie standings with a series-record 5 rookies still eligible for their own separate points fund and awards at seasons end, heading into the weekend.
Early pit parking will begin on Thursday, October 2 at 5 P.M. and run until 10 P.M. that night. Complete shows will be running each night for the MARS Late Models, MARS Modifieds, and the DIRTcar Pro Late Models. The event is headlined by the MARS Late Model division racing for $12,000 to win, $1,000 to start, with almost $50,000 being paid out in just Late Model feature monies alone.

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH FOR:
FINAL BOUTS: With one final weekend left on the schedule, the MARS Late Models head into the weekend with 27 feature events completed while the MARS Modifieds have had 13 feature events in 2025. 29 MARS Late Model feature events would be the most events completed in a season since 2016.
BIG MONEY REGIONAL RACING: While Friday features standard series purses for both the Late Models and the Modifieds, Saturday’s purses are something worth mentioning. The MARS Late Model feature event purse on Saturday equals almost $50,000 in total, with $12,000 to the victor and $1,000 just to start. On a weekend where both national series are competing, it opens the door for regional teams to take home good money to end their season.
FALS FRENZY BRINGS INVADERS: The end of the year seems to always bring different names that may not come to central Illinois all season long, or maybe just a time or two. This year looks to be no different with invaders in each division looking likely with drivers like Chris Simpson, Ashton Winger, Tyler Kuykendall, Chevy Boyer, Travis Stemler, Jim Manka, and Timmy Hill all looking to make rare starts at FALS this weekend.
DIVISION SWAP: We said invaders… But did we mention division swaps? For the first time this season, Kyle Hammer will enter the MARS Late Model division looking to fine-tune before the Gateway Dirt Nationals in December. Hammer actually enters the weekend in 10th-position in MARS Modified standings as well.
THAT LATE MODEL ROOKIE BATTLE: All eyes this weekend will be focused on the MARS Late Model Sunoco Race Fuels Rookie of the Year battle, and for good reason. All three drivers are separated by only 17 points with two features remaining. Jake Little heads into the weekend with the lead and seems to have the upper-hand with the most recent success at FALS including a pair of top-5 FALS Cup finishes this season.
