Daryn Klein Captures First Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Racing Series Victory at Tri-City Speedwaymars
PONTOON BEACH, IL (August 17, 2019)—Daryn Klein of Fairview Heights, Ill. captured his first career Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Racing Series event on Friday Night August 16 at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill.
Gordy Gundaker was en route to dominating the night when he broke a driveshaft on the lap-19 restart and Klein would then inherit the lead. Klein fended off a challenge from Jason Papich to go on to the feature victory, his first of the tour. The big mover of the race was Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill. who started eighth and finished third. Klein became the seventh different winner in seven races on the tour so far.
Klein drove his Rocket Chassis powered by a Dargie Racing Engine to the $3,000 payday. Klein’s sponsors include Klein’s Appliance & Bedding, Randy Korte Consulting, Aggressive Graphics, Menard’s Jeep and Dodge Sales, Laura Buick and Penske Racing Shocks.
On Saturday August 17, the tour will head to Federated Auto Parts Raceway @ I-55 in Pevely, Mo. for the first time in two years and the event will pay $3,000-to-win. On Sunday, the series will head to Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Ill. paying $3,000-to-win.
